  • Teamwork – if someone needs help, the team pulls together to make sure they get it.
  • Creativity and Initiative – don’t wait for someone to tell you something needs doing, if you think it will make things better – do it.

Love Where You Work

In no particular order, here are some of the things we do to make Lightworks a great place to work:

  • We operate a properly designed and managed Aftercare system so that service calls don’t eat into your personal life.
  • Training is core to what we do, you’ll get all the training you need to be awesome at what you do.
  • Technicians get company credit cards – you shouldn’t have to spend your own money on work stuff.
  • Our company vehicles are all shiny and new, we won’t have you driving an old banger!
  • We buy whatever tools our technicians need without question – you need the right tools to do the best job.
  • We invest in software and services to make our processes as slick as possible.
  • We keep you fed and watered with a generously stocked fridge and snack drawer.

  • Electrician Trainee Program, a Partnership to Support Future Talent!

We are proud to be partnering with the Western Electrical Contractors Association, Inc. (WECA), to offer an Electrician Trainee Program. We currently have staff in this program and through this partnership, these staff members will gain hands-on experience. Working alongside our senior electricians they will increase their knowledge, through WECA’s program, to eventually become qualified journeyman electricians.

Established in 1929, Western Electrical Contractors Association (WECA), is an independent electrical contractors’ association that provides innovative training and apprenticeship programs, critical business services, governmental advocacy, and responsive customer support to its members, students, and the electrical and low voltage industries in California.

We look forward to our ongoing partnership with WECA, through the Electrician Trainee Program, to support industry growth by nurturing and educating our future talent!

See What Our Employees Have to Say About the Electrician Trainee Program

Before moving to California, a few months ago, I was a Journeyman Electrician in Michigan for 9 years. Working at LIGHTWORKS, with the uniqueness of the company’s model offering a full integration from lighting design, electrical to shades and AV, is a great opportunity and I am further developing the knowledge and skills I have from years in the electrical industry. With the Electrician Trainee program that LIGHTWORKS offers, in conjunction with WECA, I can complete online courses and learn, so that I can take my Californian State License and be recognized as a Journeyman in this State.

Ben Journeyman Electrician

I joined LIGHTWORKS, this year, to start my electrical apprenticeship, first starting off working in the warehouse which helped me to get familiar with the products, team, and environment. This was a great start and after three months in the warehouse, I am now working in the field. When I have completed my 6 months of service, I will start the LIGHTWORKS Electrician Trainee Program, which combines field work with studying, through WECA, so I can become a licensed Journeyman Electrician. LIGHTWORKS is an awesome place to start my electrical journey, the journeyman are very patient and great teachers and always willing to teach me new things.

Orlando Apprentice Electrician

After 10 years of running my own electrical business in the UK, I moved to San Diego. New to the US, I needed to learn new regulations and code, to work as an Electrician. LIGHTWORKS has a reputation as a great place to work, and with the electrician trainee program they offer, I can work and learn the new codes and regulations at the same time. My skills and experience, and the opportunities LIGHTWORKS has to offer meant a win/win for us both!

Shane Qualified Electrician

Before I started at LIGHTWORKS, I had started an HVAC apprenticeship where I was exposed to some electrical practices. I enjoyed the electrical work so much that I decided to change direction to become an electrician. When I first joined LIGHTWORKS I started in the warehouse, and after 3 months I trained Orlando to take over from me as I moved into the field. This transition from the warehouse to the field was a smooth one as the qualified Journeyman that I work with are knowledgeable and are also great teachers. I am excited to be working towards becoming a Journeyman through the LIGHTWORKS Electrician Trainee Program.
