La Jolla Waterfront Residence

LIGHTWORKS was given an opportunity to design, supply and program the home automation, lighting control, security and surveillance, shades, and drapes for this high-end waterfront spec home in beautiful La Jolla, San Diego. This home was designed and built by Blue Heron, a design-led development firm that accentuates aspirational living through personalized home experiences. It was an exciting project and the largest scale design, deployment, and custom programming of a Savant system, in a spec home, that LIGHTWORKS has undertaken!
A Savant operating system was used to control IP audio and IP video throughout the home, added to the Savant app for seamless control across the property, delivering a future owner incredible sound, without compromising the home's contemporary design. Also operated through the Savant system and app, the home features five automated sliding doors and a solid glass automated gate, with intercom system which calls both the owners cellphone when visitors arrive at the gate and touch panels, strategically located throughout the house, to receive guests or deliveries.
The lights, throughout the home, are controlled using Savant’s lighting control technology, programmed to allow for multiple mood settings in individual rooms or across the whole home including the outdoor areas. Lutron roller shades were designed to blend into the interior colors to allow light diffusion and ensure that the stunning view is always visible.

Packed with multiple high-end features, LIGHTWORKS installed a unique Planar 12ft LED, TVF series video wall, in the media room, offering buyers an amazing sharp, bright picture, even in full sunlight. The drapes in the media room were designed in a curved shape to act as a wall to separate recreational areas offering a functional, stylish, custom solution.

Outside on the roof deck, amongst spectacular views, LIGHTWORKS installed three 55” outdoor waterproof TVs on motorized lifts, from Future Automation. These TVs are housed within custom built-in cabinets that are automated through the Savant system, to rise at the touch of a button so owners can make the most of the warm San Diego weather and fabulous surroundings, while watching sports or their favorite shows! The Savant operating system is programmed to operate the fountain and fire pit on the lower level of the home, the fire pits on the roof deck and in the backyard.

LIGHTWORKS also installed an enterprise grade wired and wireless network, inside and outside. These networks, and the entire Savant system, are controlled via the two large AV racks subtly housed in the dedicated climate-controlled technology room in between the media room and garage.

This project was a true demonstration of how the design, build and implementation of a custom integrated system, enhances the lifestyle and ambiance of this stunning home!
